Kicking off on November 13, 2024, the project focused on restoring the bulkheads and returning them to the original 1999 Arnold Palmer design that made Rivers Edge such a standout. On holes 9, 15, and 18, we rebuilt and reinforced these signature elements, not only to recapture the visual drama of the original design but also to ensure the long-term stability and playability of these key holes. As part of this work, we expanded several surrounding areas that had shifted or eroded over the years. These spaces now feature new turf grass.

On hole 15, we replaced the artificial turf on the forward tee boxes with natural grass turf — a small but meaningful improvement that enhances the overall player experience.

In addition to the bulkhead and turf updates, we completed much-needed bridge work on holes 3, 9, 15, and 17, reinforcing these structures for safe and lasting use.

It was a busy and productive winter at Rivers Edge, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see everything take shape and settle in over the past few months. The course is looking and playing better than ever — and we’re just getting started on what’s shaping up to be an exciting season ahead.

We invite you to come see the changes for yourself.

2024 Recap at Rivers Edge Golf Club https://playriversedgegolf.com/2024-recap-at-rivers-edge-golf-club/ Sun, 29 Dec 2024 21:02:51 +0000 https://playriversedgegolf.com/?p=5175 As 2024 comes to a close, it’s a great time to reflect on the incredible year we’ve had here at Rivers Edge Golf Club. This year marked our first full year under the new ownership of Sandesh Sharda, and we’re thrilled with the progress we’ve made and the positive feedback from our members and guests. After being recognized as 2023 Golf Course of the Year by the Myrtle Beach Golf Course Owner’s Association, we worked hard to continuously provide an unparalleled golfing experience in the Myrtle Beach market.

We kicked off the year with a variety of improvements aimed at enhancing the overall experience for everyone who steps on our property. At the end of 2023, we introduced our brand new fleet of Club Car golf carts that were continuously upgraded with new technology and enhanced features throughout the year. Paired with newly renovated cart paths, your visit to Rivers Edge Golf Club will now include a more comfortable and smoother ride. Another improvement was the full renovation of the clubhouse, including a new modern exterior and refreshed interior. The renovation included remodeling the Double Eagle Grille to provide guests with an elevated dining space and a new menu.

In addition to these aesthetic updates, we focused on adding more value to the golf experience itself. Our renovated practice facility now includes a number of new services designed to enhance your visit to Rivers Edge, such as range balls and practice facility access with every tee time, complimentary juice and coffee, and even complimentary valet service to make your visit as seamless as possible.

On the course, we’ve been hard at work making improvements that enhance playability and overall course conditions. We’ve completed bunker renovations and replaced flagsticks and tee signs. We’ve also added in-ground trash cans, ensuring the course is as clean and enjoyable as possible for every round. One of the major ongoing projects this year is the bulkhead restoration project to its original iconic Arnold Palmer design of 1999. We are currently wrapping up work on One of the major ongoing projects this year is the bulkhead restoration project, which will further elevate the beauty and integrity of the course. Additionally, we’re in the process of restoring Hole #15, removing artificial turf and replacing it with natural grass to ensure a more authentic playing experience.

In our commitment to providing optimal playing conditions year-round, we completed a full fall overseed of the course. By overseeding wall to wall, we’re ensuring lush, healthy turf that will maintain the excellent playing conditions you’ve come to expect—now and for the seasons to come. This important step will help guarantee the course remains in top shape for 2025 and beyond, delivering the best possible experience for our members and guests.

Our team has worked tirelessly to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment, and we’re proud to say that our efforts have not gone unnoticed. We were honored to be voted #1 in customer service and course conditions during the Myrtle Beach World Am Tournament, a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support from our members and guests. We’re deeply grateful for your continued patronage and feedback, which allows us to continue making Rivers Edge Golf Club a premier destination for golfers. Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to build on the progress we’ve made. We’ll continue to focus on customer service, course improvements, and creating a memorable experience for everyone who visits. Here’s to another amazing year ahead, and we can’t wait to welcome you back in the new year!

Cheers to 2024 and beyond!

Teeing Off on the Edge: A Deep Dive into Rivers Edge Golf Club’s Par 3 Holes https://playriversedgegolf.com/teeing-off-on-the-edge-a-deep-dive-into-rivers-edge-golf-club-par-3-holes/ Mon, 12 Feb 2024 16:22:04 +0000 https://playriversedgegolf.com/?p=5022 In the tapestry of a golf course, par 3 holes stand as miniature masterpieces, weaving together challenge, strategy, and beauty into a compact package. During the creation of Rivers Edge Golf Club, Arnold Palmer strategically designed four par 3 holes that perfectly blend the landscape with the challenges of the hole.

Despite their shorter distances, par 3 holes demand precision and finesse, offering golfers an opportunity to showcase their skills with every swing. Join us as we deep dive into the four par 3 holes you will enjoy during your round at Rivers Edge Golf Club.

Hole no. 5

Hole no. 5 is arguably one of the most picturesque holes at Rivers Edge Golf Club. It is the shortest of the par 3 holes at Rivers Edge, however it is also the most daunting. The Shallotte river marshland guards the sloped green, requiring golfers to carry the distance off the tee.

As you tee off of the elevated tee box, pay special attention to the wind at play, you may need to club up one or two to ensure you reach the green. The pin placement is another added challenge to this hole, a front pin placement can be hard to nail with the green sloping off to the front. If you play too much spin, you may find your ball donated to the marsh. Our expert advice to find success on hole no. 5 is to wisely select your club and commit to your swing.

Gold Tees: 135

Black Tees: 113

White Tees: 115

Green Tees: 83

Blue Tees: 59

Hole no. 8

Hole no. 8 is another breathtaking hole at Rivers Edge with the Shallotte River surrounding the back and sides of the green. It isn’t uncommon for golfers to see a boat fishing or cruising through the channel behind this hole.

A large greenside bunker on the left is a hazard you’ll want to avoid. The large green is a big target, but depending on where you land your ball it can also lead to long challenging putts. Another overlooked challenge resulted from the stunning backdrop is that your depth perception may be deceived, trust the yardage and fully commit on this tee shot.

Gold Tees: 190

Black Tees: 183

White Tees: 162

Green Tees: 139

Blue Tees: 118

Hole no. 12

Hole no. 12 has a landscape different from the rest, but is nonetheless extraordinary. Golfers face an uphill tee shot to this testing green, you may want to club up to achieve accuracy. Surrounded by the woods on both sides of this hole the playing field is narrow.

A good and confident bunker game can be the difference between a bogey and par on this hole with four large bunkers surrounding the green.

Gold Tees: 174

Black Tees: 169

White Tees: 142

Green Tees: 130

Blue Tees: 89

Hole no. 15

Hole no. 15 at Rivers Edge stands as a breathtaking testament to nature’s influence on the game of golf. Surrounded by the tranquil waters of the Shallotte River, hole no. 15 begins the final stretch of holes at Rivers Edge all along the river. These final holes are regarded by many as the four best finishing holes on the Grand Strand.

As players step onto the tee box on hole no. 15, they are greeted with the testing challenge of carrying over the Shallotte River. Just like the rest of the par 3 holes at Rivers Edge, accuracy, precision, and the correct club choice are required. A slightly hidden bunker on the right side of the green, leaves the safest route towards the left. The green on 15 is a large target, but with slopes and tricky breaks, landing on the green is only the first of challenges for this outstanding hole.

Gold Tees: 195

Black Tees: 185

White Tees: 155

Green Tees: 106

Blue Tees: 106

A round at Rivers Edge is nothing short of amazing and the par 3 holes are just the beginning. From their technical demands to their strategic design and natural beauty, these holes offer a captivating blend of challenge and reward that keeps golfers coming back for more. So, the next time you step up to a Par 3 tee box at Rivers Edge take a moment to appreciate the artistry and allure of these miniature marvels – and remember, the journey is just as important as the destination.

We can’t wait for you to experience the one of a kind destination of Rivers Edge Golf Club. Book your next round at Rivers Edge Golf Club today!

Three Tips to Play Well at Rivers Edge https://playriversedgegolf.com/three-tips-to-play-well-at-rivers-edge/ Fri, 26 Jan 2024 20:05:15 +0000 https://playriversedgegolf.com/?p=5014 Embarking on a round of golf at Rivers Edge Golf Club is not merely a game; it’s an immersive experience like no other. It demands skill, strategy, and an appreciation for the stunning landscape the Arnold Palmer design resides on. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer familiar with every contour and bunker on the course or a newcomer visiting on a Myrtle Beach Golf Trip, mastering the challenges of the course is key to a rewarding day at Rivers Edge. In this article, we unveil three indispensable tips on how to play well and have a memorable day on the course.

1. Focus on Course Management.

Rivers Edge Golf Club features a strategic layout with every hole presenting a unique challenge. The legendary golfer’s design includes strategically placed hazards, and sloping greens that demand precision. To conquer this challenging landscape, golfers must not only rely on their technical skills but also exhibit a keen understanding of course management. Choosing the right clubs, assessing risk and reward, and adapting to uncontrollable factors such as wind, are essential to a successful round at Rivers Edge.

2. Don’t Underestimate Your Short Game

Most golfers have probably heard before that, “60% of your game comes from 100 yards and in,” and a round at Rivers Edge is no exception. With greens strategically guarded by slopes and hazards, and challenging pin placements, mastering the art of putting, chipping, and pitching becomes paramount.

A golfer’s ability to finesse the ball around the green can be the deciding factor between a birdie and bogey at Rivers Edge. Thus, on our challenging course, the short game is not merely a complement to accuracy off the tee, but instead a critical skill set that can tip the scales in one’s favor.

3. Live in the moment, not the score.

Rivers Edge Golf Club is often referenced as the most stunning golf course on the Grand Strand and for good reason. The course sits along the bluffs and tidal marshes of the Shallotte River. On each of these holes, one thing remains consistent, breathtaking views like nowhere else. For this reason and more, golfers return year after year to Rivers Edge on golf trips and vacations to experience the unique beauty and landscape of the course.

Our advice to guests at Rivers Edge is to take in every moment on our stunning property. As you set foot into our gated community, your experience becomes our top priority. Our dedicated team is meticulously trained to anticipate and exceed your needs from the moment you arrive. So during your time at Rivers Edge your only focus should be on having fun, enjoying great friends and playing partners, and taking in each breathtaking hole.

Planning a spring golf trip? Here’s why Rivers Edge is the perfect course to add to your Myrtle Beach golf trip. https://playriversedgegolf.com/planning-a-spring-golf-trip-heres-why-rivers-edge-is-the-perfect-course-to-add-to-your-myrtle-beach-golf-trip/ Mon, 15 Jan 2024 15:16:28 +0000 https://playriversedgegolf.com/?p=5006 It’s time to start planning your spring golf trip to Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach is the golf capital of the world and for good reason. With over 90 golf courses in the area, Myrtle Beach offers a golfing experience like no other. Although there is no “bad” time to visit Myrtle Beach, it’s commonly known that March 1st through May is often the ideal time for golf. The average daily high temperature during these months range from 64 to 79 degrees and they tend to be the driest months of the year. So, with warm weather, sunny days, and stunning courses there’s no place that compares for a spring golf trip then Myrtle Beach.

It can be hard when planning your golf trip to choose what courses to add to your agenda. One course that is a must-play among many yearly Myrtle Beach golf trip visitors is Rivers Edge Golf Club. Rivers Edge Golf Club is located a few miles across the South Carolina and North Carolina border in Shallotte, North Carolina. The course is considered one of the best among the Grand Strand and Myrtle Beach area and was named the 2023 Golf Course of the Year by the Myrtle Beach Golf Course Owners Association.

You probably are wondering what makes Rivers Edge Golf Club a top tier course and why you need to add to your spring golf trip— Here are our top three reasons:

Skillfully Designed Arnold Palmer Signature Course

Rivers Edge Golf Club was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 1999. The championship course sits along the bluffs and tidal marshes of the Shallotte River, and offers diverse challenges for all golf skill levels. Each hole at Rivers Edge was carefully crafted with precise attention to detail. The course features a strategic layout with every hole presenting a unique challenge. Palmer had a knack for seamlessly integrating his courses into the natural landscape and Rivers Edge is no exception. The visual masterpiece of Rivers Edge can be seen from every point of detail— bunker, tee box, hazard placement, etc.

Another design feature seen in all of Arnold Palmer’s courses is a signature design element. At Rivers Edge it’s a signature hole. One of the most talked about holes along the Grand Strand is number 9 at Rivers Edge, also known as “Arnie’s Revenge.” This Par 5 plays 540 yards from the black tees and requires perfectly executed shots from tee to green. It’s a hole that you will be talking about after round while sitting on the back porch sipping a cold beer.

Breathtaking Scenery & Atmosphere

It is no secret that Rivers Edge is one of the most scenic golf courses along the Grand Strand. The picturesque landscape of the marsh of the Shallotte River and Copas Lake add an extra layer of enjoyment to your golfing experience. There is no doubt that you will leave Rivers Edge with nothing less than lasting memories, a camera roll filled with stunning course photos, and numerous wildlife sightings (gators, birds, cranes, deer, and more).

Excellent Customer Service & Amenities

Rivers Edge Golf Club prides itself on being able to offer its guests the best customer service and golfing experience. Once a golfer sets foot into the gated community, their experience becomes our top priority. Our dedicated team is meticulously trained to anticipate and exceed your needs from the moment you arrive. Expect a warm and personalized welcome when you arrive this spring. Returning guests will experience an enhanced customer service different to previous years with new staff positions, course and clubhouse renovations, and amenities.

Be one of the first groups to experience the new enhancements coming to Rivers Edge this spring by booking your tee times now. It’s a spring season you won’t want to miss and a golf trip to remember!
