Rivers Edge – Annual River Cup

On Saturday, July 24, Rivers Edge Golf Club hosted its annual River Cup Championship.

Sixty-eight (68) residents and property owners (48 men and 20 ladies) participated in the popular annual event. Participants were divided into two teams (Red and White). The twenty-seven (27) hole format for the competition was nine holes each of Two-man Captain and Mate, Two-man Modified Alternate Shot and Singles Head-to-Head match play. This year, led by Captains Sandy Campbell and Richard Raad, the Red Team was victoriously outscoring the White Team by a score of 36.5 to 26.5.

REVA and REGC Host Foursome for Heroes

On May 19, 2021, the Rivers Edge Veterans Association (REVA) and the Rivers Edge Golf Club (REGC) hosted a Foursome for Heroes golf outing for Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans. The Foursome for Heroes program is sponsored by Operation North State. Five W/W and D/Vets participated along with two ONS volunteers and five REVA members. A fun day of golf was had by all, followed by lunch and camaraderie at The Double Eagle Grill. The five Heroes were presented REVA Honor Coins, Poppy Pins, and golf towels from REGC. This is REVA’s third Foursome for Heroes Golf Outing and we hope to have more outings in the future.

Rivers Edge Post Hurricane Florence Report

Good Afternoon Friends and Family,

First we hope you and your loved ones remained safe through the storm especially if you were in its path. We at Rivers Edge were very fortunate considering most and wish all a speedy recovery.

Our goal is to REOPEN the golf course mid to end of the week.

I can’t say enough about our Maintenance crew who has been on the playing grounds clearing debris and mowing greens since Sunday. The remainder of our staff is attempting to navigate their way back to the local area on any roads passable. We were able to arrive on site today for the first time and going through the assessment of the facility. Once again very thankful things could have been much worse.

We are very confident our customers experience will not be compromised when we reopen. The playing grounds will be clear with exception to some debris piles along the edges.

PGA Patriots 100 Hole Marathon Conclusion

On Sunday September 3, 2017 Rivers Edge Golf Club was honored to host our PGA Patriots in their 100 Hole Marathon to raise money for the Folds of Honor Foundation. The FOH foundation provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members. Honor Their Sacrifice. Educate Their Legacy.

The day began just before sunrise as participants began arriving at the golf course around 5:30 a.m., eager to prepare their golf carts for the twelve hour journey ahead. At approx 6:15 a.m., The Color Guards from our local American Legion joined us in a flag ceremony as the sunrise broke through the horizon casting a silver lining around our Patriots as they stood in honor. Shortly after participants climbed into their golf carts, decorated like parade floats, and dispatched to their starting points at 6:30 a.m.

The Patriots Challenge took just over twelve hours to complete as the majority of the field averaged around eight holes per hour, a stunning pace! All participants played until their 99th hole at which point the entire field headed towards hole #18 tee box, a stunning Par 4 that was measuring around 350 yards that day as the sun set over the Shallotte River in the background. Each group entered the final green with an amphitheater atmosphere, supporters lining the clubhouse patio, hills surrounding the green and along the cart path warmly embracing our dedicated Patriots with open hearts and boisterous voices! At 7:46 p.m. the final putt was holed in a glorious fashion for BIRDIE as the CROWD WENT WILD!

Our team of Myrtle Beach PGA Patriots which included; Captain: Jimmy Biggs, Rivers Edge 1st Assistant Sebastian Beecroft, Mike Benson, Matt Biddington, Mike Binder, Mike Buccerone, Paige Cribb, Brad Crumling, Jeff Davis, Michael DeLuca, Jeff Diehl, Trey Ernstes, Craig Kenley, Eric Morgan, Jay Smith, Brain Stefan, Will Weldon and Chad Wiebelhaus combined for 342 Birdies and 21 Eagles. Golfers Love Playing Rivers Edge

We love to get feedback from our golfers. Whether they are locals or vacationing, we want to hear what they have to say about their experience at Rivers Edge. We want to know what they think about not only just the golf course but also the rest of our facility. This is very important to our management and staff in helping know what areas need to be addressed and what can simply be enhanced to continue to be able to provide a first rate experience for everyone that comes to play. Here are some of the comments we have received recently.

“If you are looking for a challenging course that will make you want to come back over and over again, Rivers Edge is that course. The layout and backdrops of the course are beautiful and Arnie’s Revenge (9th hole) will make even the best golfers struggle. The fairways were crisp and the greens were perfect. Everything you could ask for from a course and even the price was not outrageous” said Cody.

“Accuracy is definitely a plus when playing this course” remarked Al. “Great water views with equally tough closing holes on the front and back nine. Your skills will be tested and risk vs. reward plays a big role in scoring at this course.”

Tim said “One of the best layouts in the area with AMAZING scenery. Worth every penny! This course demands pin-point shot placement and if your wedge game isn’t up to par, it could be a long day for you. You can fly the ball right at the flag and it will generally settle. I will say that if you are in the fairway, you can put a good bit of spin on the ball. For the long ball hitters, you can get to the par 5’s in 2, especially #17. The staff were all knowledgeable and extremely friendly. This course is a well-oiled machine. Thanks to everyone at River’s Edge for a wonder golf outing.”

“Played this course several times and is always in great condition. Beautiful layout along the river. Some very challenging holes and some are easier. It is a course my group loves to play every time we visit the Myrtle Beach area” raved Ed.
